Selling, People Buy What They Want and Not What They Need

When you are involved in sales you always have to remember that people buy what they want and not what they need. This can be very difficult to grasp for a lot of those who are in sales. You can clearly see what this person needs to solve the problem that they are having with a certain product or service, but they want something else. It is very strange sometimes, but again, people buy what they want and not what they need. How many times have you gone to a friend’s house and you see things that they don’t use? How many things are there in your own house? Why would we have them if we don’t use them or need them? You will see old exercise equipment, clothes, and a variety of other things that are just not used. Being in sales can be very strange at times. If you are truly a good salesman, you will first figure out what the person needs, and then tie it into what they want. This way you can feel good about getting them what they need and want at the same time. It is hard to lose and easy to win when you approach it like this. Selling can be easy if you look at it in the right way.
