There is a couple cooking channels and tons of magazines about it. The demand for “knowing how to cook” has quadrupled in the last four years. Everyone wants to become a chef and impress his or her invited guests.

So we make our 4 or sometimes even five course meals. Start with some fancy Oeuvres, salads, main, and dessert. There is so much effort put into the rest of the meals that, we sometimes forget about how important it is the salad to “taste good”.

The secret to any salad is the perfect balance between, ingredients and most importantly to be well seasoned. So don’t buy any of those pre-made dressings. All you need is a little oil and vinegar or lemon for acidity. The ratio is 3:1 oil to acid, and should be emulsified to have a creamy consistency.

Start out with you acid ingredient. If you are using balsamic vinegar make sure it’s of good quality. Incorporate some fresh herbs like chopped garlic, thyme, and rosemary, what ever you favorite ingredients might be. Slowly drizzle in the oil, (if you are using olive, make sure is extra virgin), and whisk away until completely emulsified. Season with salt and lots of pepper and you have a great base to build a wonderful salad. Salads are amazing , not only do they taste great but they are healthful option to help lose weight.
